Mild steel plate prices in the winter season are relatively stable when compared a momentary spike in December.

Other than ironstone prices keeping going up and Chinese new year holiday, new

conditions are coming up and leading to higher prices. Suppliers are in dire need of more containers while there is much shortage and so shipping cost would increase a bit. China recently released a cold wave warning. The lowest temperature in Beijing area reached -13 ℃(8.6℉), and the highest be 4℃(39.2℉). Power consumption for heating would go up.

New electricity consumption policy then will limit power supply and production schedule will be under great influence.

Given the generally positive outlook for steel demand, and an expected slowing of Chinese steel production, prices could be set to rise in the beginning of year 2021. A possible drop could be seen in March.
