Product Overview

This batch of ASTM A234 WP91 Type2 90° long radius elbows is manufactured by C&N Hongcheng, a leading alloy steel pipe fitting manufacturer with over 30 years of experience. WP91 is a modified 9Cr-1Mo-V chromium-molybdenum-vanadium alloy steel that offers exceptional creep strength and oxidation resistance at elevated temperatures up to 650°C (1200°F).

"Type2" indicates the fitting is manufactured from plate or forging stock and is subject to specific heat treatment and impact testing requirements for enhanced toughness, making it ideal for critical high-temperature and high-pressure applications.

Various forging and shaping operations can be performed on Alloy Steel Grade WP91 fittings. These fittings can be treated by hammering, upsetting, rolling, bending, pressing, piercing, extruding, fusion welding, or machining, either individually or by using a combination of two or more of these processes. The forming procedure must not allow for the formation of any injurious imperfections in the fittings. To prevent defects caused by rapid cooling, fittings such as the ASTM A234 Grade WP91 elbow must be cooled below the critical range under suitable conditions after forming them at an elevated temperature. However, special care must be taken to ensure that the cooling rate of the A234 WP91 equivalent is not faster than the cooling rate while still in the air.

ASTM A234 WP91 Heat Treatment

Except when Supplementary Requirement S1 is specified by the purchaser, Grade WP91 Type 1 and Type 2 shall benormalized at 1900 °F [1040 °C] minimum, and 1975 °F [1080°C] maximum, and tempered in the temperature range of 1350°F [730 °C] to 1470 °F [800 °C] as a final heat treatment. 7.3.6
